Fullmetal Alchemist
Edward Elric and Alphonse Elric, two brothers, attempt the alchemical art of “human transmutation” out of a single-minded desire to see their mother, who died when they were children, again. However, this forbidden alchemy fails, and Edward loses his left leg and Alphonse loses his entire body. In desperation, Edward takes Alphonse’s soul at the cost of his own right arm, and he manages to save his life by fixing the soul in a large suit of armor. With his right arm and left leg now made of steel, Edward becomes a national alchemist and is renowned as a “Fullmetal Alchemist”. The Elric brothers embark on a journey to find “a Philosopher’s Stone” in order to recover their lost bodies. They become entangled in a national conspiracy.
Silver Spoon
A coming-of-age story set in Agricultural High School. The protagonist, Yuugo Hachiken, is troubled by the academic competition at his private junior high school in Sapporo and his complicated relationship with his father, and is unable to overcome the pressures of a progressive school and find fulfillment. However, he decided to follow the recommendation of his middle school teacher, Shiraishi, and enter Ooezo Agricultural High School (often abbreviated as Ezonō ). However, Hachiken chose Ezonō because of the dormitory, which he chose as an escape from reality. While his classmates around him are pursuing their dreams for the future, Hachiken feels disheartened by the fact that he has no dreams or goals for his future. At Ezonō, where many of his first experiences are new, he feels bewildered by the unfamiliar environment, including classes, but gradually adapts through dormitory life and interaction with his peers. His daily life is occasionally confronted with the harsh realities of farming, and he is portrayed as growing up together with his friends, despite being covered in mud and sweat.
Heroic Legend of Arslan
A comic adaptation of Yoshiki Tanaka’s work “Heroic Legend of Arslan“. “Pars” is a large country that is blessed with a variety of supplies and is a key transportation hub, and has repeatedly fended off invasions from other countries. The main character, Arslan, was born as the crown prince of such a country. At the age of 14, his first battle was against the Lusitanians, who launched an invasion of Pars. The Pars army, which had been an undefeated power until then, was defeated in that battle, the royal city was taken, and the king was captured. This work depicts Arslan’s battle to regain Pars.
