ONE PIECE anime is to be re-animated. Disappointed by the remake work, I choose 3 animes that I enjoyed the original version.

ONE PIECE will be re-animated by a new animation team with completely new footage from the original episode 1 and produced as “THE ONE PIECE.” The new anime will be animated again from the “East Blue” arc and distributed on Netflix as a new anime series.

Here are three anime that I personally recommend the original version over the remake. I hope “THE ONE PIECE” will be remade without losing the goodness of the original version.

Rurouni Kenshin

I picked up Rurouni Kenshin from Fall 2023 Anime. Rurouni Kenshin is one of the works that I recommend the original version. For those who have seen the original version, Mayo Suzukaze is the only person who can do the voice of Kenshin. Incidentally, Mayo Suzukaze is a former top star of the Takarazuka Revue. Her powerful voice was very attractive. “Sobakasu,” which became a big hit as an anime OP, and the Warriors Suite, a cool background music, were also wonderful. The battle between Shishio Makoto and Kenshin was also impressive.

HUNTER x HUNTER

Did you know that there was an original version of HUNTER x HUNTER? Those who watched the original version must have felt uncomfortable with Gon’s voice in the remake. The beauty of the original version is that its serious style fits perfectly with the atmosphere depicted in the animation. The Yorknew City arc is the one that really shows off the original version. First of all, the OP “Taiyou wa Yoru mo Kagayaku”. I wonder if there is such a cool OP. Also, the dark and shadowy atmosphere of the Yorknew City arc matched the Phantom Troupe and the storyline very well.

Dragon Ball

Dragon Ball was remade as Dragon Ball Z Kai. The original story of Dragon Ball Z was omitted. One of the features of the remake was the fast-paced storyline. However, for those who had seen the original version, the “story so far” scenes that were stretched out too long and the story that did not progress at all were the good points of the original version.

These are the three anime that I would recommend to view in their original versions. Of course, the remake version was also a wonderful work using new technology. Now, what will happen to “THE ONE PIECE“?
